Sotheby’s sizzles with December auctions

Sotheby’s is hosting auctions in London and New York featuring sought-after collectors’ items from the likes of Fabergé, Lalique, Van Cleef & Arpels, Jaeger Le Coultre, Patek Phillipe, Cartier, and Tiffany’s.
“Russian Works of Art, Fabergé and Icons”, to be held in London on November 30, highlights treasures ranging from a portrait of Tsar Nicholas II, antique religious icons, to an exquisitely enameled Fabergé jewelled silver-gilt clock, circa 1895-1899, estimated to be worth 120-180,000 GBP.

In New York, “Magnificent Jewels” will auction off an extremely rare, 22.17-carat pure pink diamond on December 7 and will also spotlight heirlooms from Cartier. Works by other famed jewelers, such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Lalique, and more modern pieces from Buccellati can also be expected to do handsomely.

Chronometer aficionados should be on the lookout for the offerings in Sotheby’s “Fine Watches” auction in London on December 13. Dr. George Daniels’ “extremely rare handmade watch” showcases the superlative craftsmanship that goes into watchmaking, and beautiful vintage and modern items from Jaeger Le Coultre, Patek Phillipe, and Audemars Piguet will also be highlighted.

A December 15 auction in Sotheby’s New York will feature Tiffany’s items (just in time for last minute holiday shopping, anyone?). To register for these auctions and for further details, please visit the Sotheby’s website.
