TRADING UP: Trezza Joins Sage; Tassan-Solet to Mizuho

Mike Trezza has joined Sage Trader as Managing Director, Electronic Execution Services in New York. A veteran with 25 years in finance, Trezza comes from Bayes Capital where he spent almost the last three years as an institutional salesman. He also worked for neary years in business development at Global Liquidity Partners and at Knight before that. He got his start in the business at MSCI, a division of Morgan Stanley back in 1992.

Ipreo announced that it has hired Albert Lojko as Executive Vice President, Head of Global Corporate Solutions, based in New York. Lojko, a veteran with over 20 years of industry experience in FinTech, comes onboard from Thomson Reuters, where he held several executive leadership roles, most recently Global Head of Open Platform. Prior to Thomson Reuters, Lojko served as Managing Director of the Equities business at Tradeweb, following his first stint as an executive manager at Thomson Corporation, which included 5 years in Europe. He started his career at the Carson Group.

Agency broker BTIG announced today that Gareth Thomas has joined the firm’s Foreign Exchange Trading Group. Based in New York, Thomas will drive the development of BTIG’s electronic foreign exchange platform, TradeSave FX, a low-touch technology for advanced direct market access. Prior to BTIG, he was a Sales Director at FastMatch, where he developed, maintained and strengthened client relationships within the electronic FX market. Previously, Mr. Thomas was Head of Foreign Exchange Trading at Mint, a division of BGC Capital.

NEX Group hired Colin Murphy as chief commercial officer of NEX Group’s Optimisation unit. Murphy is a former managing director at Goldman Sachs.

UBS’ asset-management arm has hired Suni Harford as its head of investments. Harford will oversee about $600 billion and about 500 investment staffers from New York, according to a press release. Harford is replacing Dawn Fitzpatrick, who left the bank earlier this year to join George Soros’ family office as chief investment officer. Harford joins UBS from Citigroup, where she previously worked for 24 years. She most recently was regional head of markets for North America.

Cinnober recently announced the acquisition of the business and assets of Ancoa Software, the UK-based market surveillance specialist company. This business forms a new subsidiary within the Cinnober group and Alastair Goodwin has now been appointed CEO for the entity, that will provide contextual surveillance and insightful analytics for exchanges, regulators, buy & sell-side firms. Goodwins’s most recent position was Head of Business Development at Boat Services Ltd, a UK based Cinnober subsidiary that provides technology services to the banking and insurance sectors. Notably, he drove the partnership between Boat and the London Stock Exchange to bring together their reporting services and form TRADEcho.

Mizuho Americas has announced the appointment of Massimo Tassan-Solet as Managing Director and Head of Derivatives Trading. In this role, Tassan-Solet will lead Mizuho’s US derivative trading activities, which currently includes Rates and Foreign Exchange products. In addition, Tassan-Solet will serve as a key leader in Mizuho’s investment strategy for the overall derivatives platform, as part of the broader expansion underway at Mizuho Americas. Prior to joining Mizuho, Tassan-Solet served in senior positions in both the hedge fund industry and on the sell-side, including at Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs. In his leadership roles on the sell-side, Tassan-Solet has been recognized for building industry-leading options trading businesses, as ranked by clients. He will report to Thomas Hartnett, Head of Fixed Income Sales & Trading for Mizuho Americas.

At the annual general meeting of SIX, Urs Beeler, Head Sales & Trading Services and member of the Executive Board of Credit Suisse (Schweiz) AG, was elected to the Board of Directors of SIX.  Beeler is Head Sales & Trading Services and member of the Executive Board of Swiss Universal Bank, Credit Suisse (Schweiz) AG. He has many years of experience in trading and asset and liability management at Credit Suisse, where before being appointed Head Trading Switzerland in 2015, he managed the area of Fixed Income Trading Switzerland starting in 2008.

CLS Group (CLS), a provider of risk mitigation and operational services for the global foreign exchange (FX) market, announced that nine new directors have been elected to its Board of Directors at its annual general meeting held earlier this month. The CLS Board now totals twenty-three directors, five of whom are independent and designated as outside directors.

The nine new directors are Vidya Bittianda, David Gary, Akira Hoshino, Dominique Le Masson, Bryan Osmar (Outside Director), Bill Stenning, Fabrizio Tallei, David Thomas and Ronnie Yam Soon Lee.

Bittianda is Group General Manager, Risk Metrics for ANZ Banking Group Limited. She is responsible for all wholesale and retail modelling for the bank including rating models, decision models, stress testing, provisioning, capital and risk appetite. The emphasis of

David Gary is Managing Director and Global Head of Non-Market Risk for Deutsche Bank’s FX business. He also served as Co-Chair of Deutsche Bank’s FX Settlement Governance Forum.

Hoshino joined The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd in 1989. He is the Senior Fellow & General Manager in the Global Markets Trading Division based in Tokyo.

Le Masson is the Senior Coordinator for European Market Infrastructures at BNP Paribas Group. She is a member of a major infrastructure advisory group at National Central Bank and European Central Bank.

Stenning is Managing Director, Clearing, Regulatory & Strategic Affairs in the Global Banking and Investor Services division at Societe Generale.

Tallei is Head of FX and International Money Markets at Intesa Sanpaolo Group Treasury.

Thomas is the Chief Executive Officer of RBC Capital Markets Europe responsible for leading all aspects of the business in the region, including strategy execution and effective governance.

Yam is currently the Regional Chief Financial Officer at United Overseas Bank Limited, based in Singapore.

Osmar was Managing Director and Head of Market Infrastructure at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).
