This virtual event, to be held in late April, will recognize the best of the best in capital markets trading and technology. From buy-side trading desks to sell-side banks, from global exchange groups to emerging fintechs, from incumbent technology providers to the entrepreneurs who seek to disrupt the status quo — the MCAs span the whole market ecosystem.
 
As we all know, the past 11 months have brought unprecedented challenges and hurdles that we all continue to overcome to keep markets running smoothly. In this difficult climate, along with everyone else, Markets Media had to pivot to virtual events, and we are very grateful for the industry support that made the 2020 Markets Choice Awards, and Women in Finance Awards programs in Asia, Europe and the U.S. so successful. Readers, sponsors, Advisory Board members, award nominees, award nominators — thank you all.
 
As we embark on the 2021 MCAs in the now-familiar virtual arena, MMG editorial staff has already been busy mapping out the categories and collecting feedback from market participants.
 
As per usual, the 2020 Markets Choice Awards winners were a distinguished group, which included State Street Global Advisors for Best Buy-Side Equities Trading Desk; Janus Henderson for Best Global Trading Desk; Bob Santella of IPC for CEO of the Year; Brad Levy for the Neil DeSena Market Advocate Award; and Thomas Peterffy for the Instinet Positive Change Jerome Pustilnik Visionary Award.
 
The 2021 program will include many familiar categories as well as some new twists, which we will announce as we move forward.
 
We eagerly hope to return to a semblance of normalcy sometime in 2021, when we can once again don our tuxedos and gowns and gather in person. In the meantime, as we continue to navigate the uncertainty, we very much look forward to continuing to recognize and celebrate the best companies, platforms, products and people virtually.
