Optiver Becomes Liquidity Provider for SIX’s ETF QOD

Optiver starts as a liquidity provider in Quote on Demand (QOD), the leading on-exchange Request for Quote (RFQ) solution for ETF trading at SIX Swiss Exchange, further improving the trading conditions for participants.

As one of Europe’s ETF pioneers – celebrating the segment’s 25th anniversary this year – the launch of ETF Quote on Demand (QOD) had once again underlined SIX Swiss Exchange’s innovative capacity and status as one of Europe’s three leading ETF trading venues. QOD allows institutional investors to execute orders in a bidding process directly with registered liquidity providers.

Gaining Optiver as an additional liquidity provider for QOD further enhances the attractiveness of this leading on-exchange service which offers participants potential price improvements compared to existing order services while benefitting from fully integrated, efficient post-trade processing.

David Andrew Smith, Head ETF Sales at SIX Swiss Exchange, comments: “I’m delighted to see Optiver become our seventh liquidity provider in ETF QOD, as we are continuously looking to improve the trading conditions on our market for our participants and grow our service offering.”

Pasquale Capasso, ETF Institutional Sales at Optiver, adds: “By joining the QOD platform of SIX Swiss Exchange, Optiver strengthens its ability to provide competitive and reliable ETF liquidity to institutional counterparties in Switzerland. This step reflects our commitment to enhancing transparency, improving execution quality, and supporting the continued growth of the Swiss ETF market.”

Optiver is a market maker in 695 passive and 6 active ETFs among the total of 2,076 ETFs listed at SIX Swiss Exchange (as of 9 September 2025).

From Record to Record

ETF Quote on Demand (QOD) was launched in 2020 in order to increase ETF trading on the exchange. The service was developed in close cooperation with ETF market makers and trading participants for this segment.

Since the start of the year, ETF QOD has gone from strength to strength, registering successive new turnover records in the first four months of the year, culminating in CHF 1.6 billion traded in April, marking a 16% increase compared to the previous record month.
