Gabriella Gambino, Fixed Income Sales, Business Development at Virtu Financial, won Rising Star at Markets Media Group’s 2025 U.S. Women in Finance Awards.
How did it feel to receive Rising Star recognition, and what does it mean to you personally?
It’s truly an honor to receive the Rising Star recognition. This award serves as a meaningful validation of the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my career so far, and it motivates me to keep building on that momentum. I’m deeply appreciative of the support I’ve received from colleagues, mentors, and friends, and I look forward to continuing to grow and contribute within this industry.
Outside of work, what inspires or motivates you?
Something that inspires me, both in my work and in my personal life, is the opportunity to genuinely connect with people. In my role in sales, I’ve learned how essential it is to build strong, meaningful relationships, and that experience has motivated me to prioritize connections outside of work as well. Living in New York, I’ve realized how challenging it can be to make new friends as an adult, but also how important it is. Pushing myself to build those connections, whether through shared interests, new communities, or unexpected encounters has made the city feel smaller, more supportive, and much more like home.
What advice would you give to a young woman starting out in finance today?
My advice to the younger generation is to dive in and start somewhere. Careers don’t always follow a straight path, and that’s okay. My journey in the financial services industry has been winding, and I’ve been fortunate to take on a variety of roles and experiences at Virtu that have helped me discover what truly excites and motivates me. Every experience, no matter how unexpected, can teach you something valuable and help shape your direction.
