Markets Media Group’s second-annual Global Markets Choice Awards will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the Central Park Boathouse in New York.
The Markets Choice Awards launched in 2013 as an event to recognize and celebrate the best of the best in capital markets trading and technology. The Markets Choice Awards was rebranded to the Global Markets Choice Awards in 2025 to more closely align with the globalization of markets.
Ahead of this year’s GMCAs, we are featuring retrospectives of select past award winners.
William Brodsky won Lifetime Achievement at Markets Media’s inaugural Markets Choice Awards in 2013.
Launching an awards program from scratch is no mean feat – we needed to explain what we were doing and why people should want to participate, without any precedent of previous award winners. Bill Brodsky signing on for Lifetime Achievement, arguably the most important award, gave instant credibility and gravitas to our first program.
Bill’s became head of Amex’s options trading in 1976, when options trading volume was a tiny fraction of today’s levels. “Trying to make options a legitimate investment vehicle was a big hurdle in those days,” Bill said in a 2013 Markets Media article.
After almost nine years at the Amex, Bill was lured to Chicago, where he was CEO of CME Group from 1985 until 1997, before moving across the street to Cboe Global Markets. His leadership was instrumental in Chicago maintaining and expanding its preeminence in futures and options markets.
“A Chicago exchange legend will start to ride off into the sunset this year,” the 2013 article stated, noting that Bill would soon step down as Cboe CEO.
Since 2013, Bill has served as a Board Member for Cedar Street Asset Management, and he is Chairman of Options Solutions, a specialty asset management firm that he founded with his son.
