The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced it will host an industry roundtable Dec. 15 to discuss issues related to the viability of derivatives markets moving to 24/7 trading. The dialogue will build upon the CFTC’s Request for Comment earlier this summer on 24/7 trading.

The CFTC’s roundtable will provide a public venue for dialogue on the evolving market structures shaping derivatives markets, including overnight trading, tokenization, infrastructure and staffing needs, and operational readiness. Participants will convene from across the industry to discuss how the Commission can promote responsible innovation while protecting market participants and preserving the integrity and resilience of U.S. derivatives markets.

“I have been consistently clear: under my leadership, the CFTC will not take a one‑size‑fits‑all approach to 24/7 trading. Market structure evolves best through thoughtful and responsible progress, and that’s exactly why we’re hosting a roundtable to hear directly from industry on their views for 24/7 trading across different asset classes,” Chairman Selig said.

The roundtable will take place at CFTC’s headquarters in Washington. Information regarding the agenda, speakers, and registration will be posted at a later date. This event will be open to the public and livestreamed on CFTC.gov. Please note the number of in-person participants may be limited, and visitors will be subject to security checks.

Members of the public are welcome to submit speaker nominations to Roundtables@CFTC.gov
