What is it?
Restaurant Profile: The NoMad

Upscale restaurant in the NoMad hotel offering American-European cuisine and differently styled dining rooms. Co-founded by chef Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park fame and restaurateur Will Guidara.

Where is it located?
1170 Broadway in the Chelsea neighborhood.

What’s good here?
Chicken Hash

Their signature dish is their whole roasted chicken for two stuffed with foie gras, truffle, and brioche, with lentils, Brussels sprouts, and cotechino on the side. It’ll set you back $82, one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, but it’s worth paying that price for what Zagat calls the “roast chicken of a lifetime.” The suckling pig is another popular entrée, ordered for its intense flavor and crunchy confit top. They also serve specialty snacks, available all day and at the bar, like butter-dipped radishes and salmon rillettes with rye and fine herbs. On the dessert end, there’s Milk and Honey, a deceptively simple but exquisite combination of milk ice-cream and buckwheat honey.

You should come here if…

You have a special occasion to celebrate or want to enjoy a nice meal with loved ones. The abundance of plush furniture and dark wood furnishings, combined with dim lighting, lends the venue a warm and intimate air. The two-level library and original French fireplace give the rooms an old world feel that’s best enjoyed over cocktails or wine with close friends and family.

But not if…
You’re looking to spend less than $30 per person and rush through your meal. You should at least have pre-dinner cocktails in mind or room for dessert after. After all, the NoMad has an expansive bar area and cocktails crafted by an award-winning mixologist.

When’s the best time to go?
Nomad Trout

The sheer splendor of the restaurant makes it a prime dinner location, but if you want to switch it up, they also have a brunch menu on the weekends. That’s also when they serve their chicken sandwich, which is a scaled down version of their whole roasted chicken. The airy, sunlit space of Atrium creates the perfect setting for Sunday brunch, and they have four different kinds of Bloody Marys to sweeten the deal.
