Cboe Europe Approved As Benchmark Administrator

03.08.2018

Cboe Global Markets, one of the world’s largest exchange holding companies, today announced that Cboe Europe was registered on 5 March 2018 as a Benchmark Administrator under the EU Benchmarks Regulation (BMR). Cboe Europe’s suite of European indices are now BMR compliant.

As a Benchmark Administrator, Cboe is required to implement high standards of governance, oversight and transparency with respect to the provision of its indices, allowing them to be used as Benchmarks within the framework of the BMR.

Adam Eades, Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer for Cboe Europe, said: “We are pleased to be authorized as a Benchmark Administrator under the EU BMR. We have long advocated for increased competition in the benchmark index market and in 2016 we launched a European indices business to bring competition, choice and transparency to this segment of the market. We believe the EU BMR brings a common framework and consistent approach to benchmark regulation across the EU.”

Cboe launched its European index business in June 2016. Additional information is available on the Indices website.
