A Better Year: Style

Out with the old, in with the new (attire, that is), so put your best-dressed self forward with a few key accessory updates–or embrace change in that nicely fitting suit.

Chances are, you already know what looks best on you and have a closet chock-full of classic pieces that fit just so (you do, don’t you?). Add some fresh twists to your office wardrobe, and please, do warn 2012 in advance of your arrival.

Getting dressed is a fairly simple affair: shirt, trousers, tie, jacket, socks, shoes…which is why it all comes down to the details. For the new year, pick out an element in your everyday garb and spruce it up–wear a jacket that fits better around the shoulders, chest, and waist, or tailor your trousers to flatter your legs and height. And it can’t hurt to invest in a few crucial accessory updates, either.

Bullish on the details. Let’s face it: you love what you do for a living. Wear it on your cuff with these Bull & Bear wingback cufflinks in sterling silver. Paul Stuart Bull & Bear cufflinks $170 | paulstuart.com

You’ll want to wear these sunglasses at night. Channel some Steve McQueen cool in these classic Persol foldable sunglasses in either caramel, dark turquoise, or sleek black. And yes, they’re foldable…to make room for that pack of smokes or those motorcycle keys, of course. Persol 714 Foldable Sunglasses, $280 | eyegoodies.com

It’s hip to be square. As a guy, your options are a bit limited when it comes to expressing your style–especially in the office. Top off that tailored suit, classy tie, and special cufflinks with a subtle throwback and a dash of color with these unique pocket squares in funky patterns and combinations.
