Cheryl Gilberg is Chief Marketing Officer responsible for directing Mizuho Americas’ brand strategy, media relations, digital marketing, social media, conferences and events, internal communications, and creative services. In early 2016, Cheryl introduced a compelling brand strategy for the Americas that
strengthened the corporate image and raised awareness in the region.

Since then, Cheryl expanded the team, building an award-winning, full-service department whose marketing efforts, events, and campaigns advance the firm’s business directives. The team’s accomplishments have been recognized with a variety of industry honors for excellence in marketing, communications, advertising, design, and event production, including numerous coveted FCS
(Financial Communications Society) awards.

Cheryl brings more than 30 years of industry marketing and communications experience. She joined Mizuho from Goldman Sachs where she spent several years serving as Global Head of Marketing & Communications for the Securities Division. Prior to Goldman, Cheryl held similar roles at Morgan Stanley and Citigroup. She also has early start-up, fintech, and market structure experience, having worked at Lava Trading and SunGard.

At Mizuho, Cheryl co-founded the Mizuho Women’s Initiatives Network (M-WIN) – the firm’s first employee resource group (ERG) – supporting the advancement and inclusion of women in the workplace. She champions firm-wide DE&I initiatives, and helped to launch subsequent ERGs, including the PRIDE, MADE (African Descent), MAAP (Asian American), and UNIDOS (Latinx) networks.

Cheryl is a recent recipient of Ragan’s Top Women in Finance Trailblazer Award and the Markets Choice Women in Finance Award for Marketing. She graduated summa cum laude from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University with a B.S. in Advertising and Marketing.
