Marie Geekie is a Senior Director within BlackRock’s Global Markets Equity Trading Group in London, where she leads the Emerging Markets and UK Small & Mid-Cap Equity Trading pod. The team provides equity execution Fundamental  Active Equity Teams across Emerging Markets, Themes & Sectors, Global Equity and Financials, trading both developed and emerging markets globally, with particular expertise across CEEMEA equities. Marie was named The TRADE Rising Star of Trading in 2021 and received the European Women in Finance Award for Excellence in Buy-Side Trading in 2024. She is also a member of the BlackRock Equities Trading team that won The TRADE Buy-Side Trading Desk of the Year in 2023.  and is an active supporter of mentorship, industry networking and the advancement of women in financial markets.  In addition to her trading responsibilities, Marie is an active industry advocate and speaker, contributing to panels and events focused on market structure, trading excellence, leadership and mentoring.

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2020, Marie spent more than two decades in investment banking. She joined Macquarie Group to help build its European cash equity platform and expand its Emerging Markets franchise. Before that, she spent 14 years at Deutsche Bank, specialising in CEEMEA cash equity sales trading before moving into a broader CEEMEA and Developed Markets role, including UK mid-cap coverage. During her time at Deutsche Bank, Marie served on the firm’s Women’s Returnship Programme, Graduate Programme and mentoring initiatives.

Marie’s career spans more than 30 years across developed and emerging equity markets, holding senior trading and sales trading roles at leading global financial institutions including NatWest Securities, HSBC, Raymond James, Deutsche Bank and Macquarie.
