Cboe Global Markets, Inc. announced trading in its proprietary index options set a new single-day record on April 14, 2026, surpassing the previous record set on April 4, 2025.
“We saw investors actively positioning for risk beyond the front end of the curve,” said Meaghan Dugan, Cboe’s Head of U.S. Derivatives. “On April 14, total trading in our proprietary index options reached a new high of 8.96 million contracts, with elevated SPX and VIX options volumes on the trading floor driven by contracts with more than one month to expiration. It’s a clear signal of how market participants are using index options to manage exposure across different time horizons.”

- SPX 0DTE: 3.12 million (~49.7% of total volume)
