Bari Spielfogel, Managing Director, Head of Global Inflation Products, Citi, won Excellence in Trading – Fixed Income at Markets Media Group’s 2025 U.S. Women in Finance Awards.
How did it feel to be recognized, and what does this award mean to you personally?
I’m truly honored to be included in a really impressive group of women across the street.
Was there a particular trade, market moment, or project that you’re most proud of in your career, and why?
Working remotely during the pandemic was extremely challenging for me and for most people. I was managing a team, a trading book, and raising my children all under the same roof at this time. I’m extremely proud of how I handled and managed things during this time. These growing pains of managing a pandemic and home life shaped me and made me grow into a better person at the end of the day.
How has the culture in fixed income trading evolved for women since you started?
The culture in fixed income has definitely evolved since I first started in the business. There’s more diversity across the board, more focus on mentorship and paying it back, and more females on the buyside which ultimately has helped the growth of females on the sell side.
