Tina Lodge, Sales and Trade Execution, Liquidnet, won Excellence in Trading Platforms (Fixed Income): at Markets Media’s 2025 European Women in Finance Awards. We caught up with Tina to learn more.
Tina, what does this Excellence in Trading Platforms (Fixed Income) award mean to you?
It’s incredibly rewarding. This award isn’t just a personal milestone — it’s a reflection of the hard work, collaboration, and innovation that’s gone into transforming how fixed income is traded. To be recognised in a space that’s often seen as complex and slow-moving is a real honour. It validates the work I’ve been involved in, where fixed income trading has evolved, and as a woman in trading tech, it’s a proud moment to show what’s possible when you bring passion and persistence to the table.
What were the key milestones or innovations that led to this achievement?
There have been several. Integrating my role from TPICAP into Liquidnet’s electronic offering was a major step forward; I was able to work with more efficient access to connectivity and protocols while broadening my fixed income knowledge. We are now in the process of integrating Neptune’s pre-trade data platform and enhance price discovery with execution trading tools, which I am really excited about. Our work on internal crossing and expanding connectivity with asset managers has also been pivotal. But perhaps most importantly, beyond the tech, it’s been about listening to clients, understanding their pain points, and building solutions that actually make a difference. I have focused on building trust, ensuring transparency, auditability, and compliance, especially in markets where regulatory scrutiny is high.
What advice would you share with women interested in the trading technology space?
Be bold. Don’t wait for permission to be curious. You don’t need to have all the answers — just the curiosity to ask the right questions. Dive into the mechanics of how markets work. This space thrives on innovation, and diverse perspectives are essential. Learn the language of trading, understand the tech, but don’t forget to understand the human side of trading. How decisions are made and how technology can empower better outcomes. Don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo. And most importantly, find mentors and allies who believe in your potential — whether it’s your clients or colleagues, they’ll help you go further than you imagined.
Who has had the biggest influence on your professional growth?
Honestly, my daughter has been my biggest influence. Raising her as a single parent taught me resilience, adaptability, time management, and how to lead with empathy. All of which have shaped how I show up professionally. On the career side, I have had the privilege of working with some great minds and there are a number of mentors internally and externally who have been instrumental in supporting my career. They know who they are. But also, leaders at the firms I have had the privilege to work for, past and present, have given me the freedom to explore and expand my role and express my ideas and the support to turn my ideas into reality.
What strengths or skills do you believe underpin your success at Liquidnet?
It’s a mix of different industry and market knowledge, intuition and relationship-building. Having started in sales and transitioned into electronic trading, I understand both sides of the business. From the old-school broking days to the digital transformation we’re driving now. This has given me a unique eye to spot opportunities and connect people and platforms. I’m also passionate about offering a white glove service to all our clients, connecting dots — whether that’s between teams, technologies, or clients — and I think that’s been key to driving meaningful change.
