JPX Has Record Annual Trading Value

Japan Exchange Group released Trading Overview in Year 2023 & December 2023.

Cash Equity Market

– In 2023, annual trading value for the Prime Market (domestic common stocks) was JPY 943.7637 trillion, an all- time high.
– For domestic ETFs, annual trading value was JPY 57.76 trillion, the sixth-highest on record.
– In the REIT market, annual trading value was JPY 12.9144 trillion, the fifth-highest on record.

Derivatives Market

– In 2023, total derivatives trading volume was 394,038,423 contracts and recorded the third highest.

– In 2023, total derivatives trading value was JPY3,538 trillion and recorded the highest trading value.

– Annual trading volume for the night session was 147,660,750 contracts and the ratio of the night session was 37.5%.

– Trading volume for TOPIX Futures was 26,627,140 contracts and recorded the second highest.

– Securities Options was 2,700,442 contracts and recorded the highest trading volume.

– Additionally, TOPIX Banks Index Futures and TSE REIT Index Futures recorded the highest trading volume.

– In December 2023, total derivatives trading volume was 34,575,752 contracts.
– In December 2023, total derivatives trading value reached JPY 430 trillion, the third highest for month and the highest record for December.
– In December 2023, trading volume for the night session and the ratio of the night session were 11,019,626 contracts and 31.9%.
– In December 2023, TSE REIT Index Futures was 286,364 contracts and recorded the highest trading volume.
