MillenniumIT Named ‘Best Exchange Technology Provider’ at 2016 Markets Choice Awards

02.26.2016

– Markets Media award cites next generation MillenniumIT platform for its technical innovation, versatility and reliability
– Rapid development and delivery of Aequitas NEO in Canada and BVL in Peru underlines MillenniumIT reputation for agility and efficiency
– 2015 wins include South Africa and India exchanges

MillenniumIT, a provider of agile and resilient capital markets solutions and part of London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), was named “Best Exchange Technology” provider at the 2016 Markets Choice Awards in New York. Hosted by Markets Media, the annual awards recognize excellence among exchanges, sell-side trading desks, institutional asset owners, investment managers, technology providers and individual industry leaders.

In selecting MillenniumIT, the Markets Media advisory board pointed to successful rollouts that standardized trading platforms and improved interactions with markets around the world. In 2015, MillenniumIT launched the new Aequitas NEO Exchange platform in Canada, replaced the 20-year legacy platform at Bolsa de Valores de Lima (BVL) in Peru, expanded its relationship with the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) in South Africa to include derivatives and fixed income markets, and was selected by the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) in India to provide its core technology trading infrastructure.

Mack Gill, CEO, MillenniumIT, said:
“We are honored to receive this industry recognition. 2015 was a banner year for MillenniumIT, with among other wins two successful client go-lives that were on the cutting edge of innovation. This award is another step towards realizing our vision of becoming the most trusted and admired partner of choice for organizations requiring real-time, high performance, agile and resilient capital market technology.”

Riaan van Wamelen, Johannesburg Stock Exchange Director and Chief Information Officer, said:
“The JSE has walked a path with MillenniumIT since the move of our equity market technology infrastructure in 2012. That move resulted in dramatically faster execution speeds for JSE members as well as improved operational stability. Since then, we haven’t looked back with MillenniumIT also assisting us to launch a co-location facility in 2014. Our decision in 2015 to embark on a programme to extend the MillenniumIT platform to the JSE’s other markets reflects our confidence in our technology partner and the working relationship we have developed. This award is further validation of our choice.”

Jos Schmitt, CEO, Aequitas NEO Exchange Inc., added:
“I congratulate MillenniumIT on earning this prestigious accolade. The task we set together was enormous; to build an exchange of the future that challenges existing trading models and puts investors, companies raising capital and their dealers first. This could not have been possible without their exemplary partnership. The breadth of their innovative and highly adaptable products combined with the dedication of our two teams throughout the build, test and go-live enabled us to bring our trailblazing exchange model to market quickly.”

In addition, LSEG’s LCH.Clearnet won the Markets Choice Award for ‘Best Clearing House’.

David Weisbrod, CEO, LCH.Clearnet LLC., said:
“We are delighted to have been named Best Clearing Company by Markets Media. This award is a reflection of our continued efforts to partner with our members, clients and regulators to deliver effective risk management to the market. 2015 was a fantastic year for LCH.Clearnet in terms of advancing our mission to be the markets’ most trustworthy clearinghouse. We are deeply committed to this objective and look forward to working closely with the industry and regulatory community in 2016 and beyond.”
