Nominations Open for LatAm Women in Finance Awards

Latin America’s financial industry is evolving—navigating challenges, embracing new technologies, and opening doors to new possibilities. Fintech startups alone more than quadrupled from 703 in 2017 to more than 3,000 in 2023, according to a report by the Inter-American Development Bank and Finnovista.

Women are gaining ground in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and other LatAm financial centers, yet progress is slow. Women represent just 11.1% of executives and board members at financial institutions in the region, according to S&P Global.

Markets Media Group aims to spotlight women driving innovation and progress in the Latin American financial industry with its inaugural Women in Finance LatAm Awards. The event will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City.

Mohan Virdee, Markets Media Group CEO, said the program will recognize and celebrate talented and accomplished women in finance, just like MMG’s established awards events in New York, London and Singapore. “We hope to recognize excellence in Latin America for many years to come,” Virdee said. “We are proud to launch the first chapter of another great program honoring the best of the best women in capital markets.”

With only 10 days left for nominations for the LatAm WIF, make sure you take the opportunity to nominate colleagues, clients and competitors whose achievements are shaping the future of finance in Latin America.

This event is more than just an awards ceremony—it’s a platform to elevate and honor the women leading change in Latin America’s financial industry. As Mexico celebrates its first female president, we look forward to highlighting the remarkable contributions of women working in finance across Latin America.

We are excited to work with companies around the globe that have a significant presence in Latin America across all sectors of the financial industry—including buy-side and sell-side firms, asset managers, trading platforms, technology providers, and securities exchanges.

The LatAm event builds on the success of Markets Media’s established Women in Finance programs around the world. We recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of our U.S. Women in Finance Awards, the 5th anniversary of the European Women in Finance Awards (EWiF) in September, and are approaching the 7th annual Women in Finance Awards Asia.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary, Markets Media Women in Finance rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange in October 2024.
