On Sale Now: NYC Wine Expo and Chicago Auto Show

01.31.2012

Gearheads and Wine Lovers alert: tickets are now available online for February’s Chicago Auto Show and March’s NYC Wine Expo.

Pick a Rover, any Rover: Check out the specs on your dream car at Chicago’s auto show.

My kind of town, Chicago is: Cars of all genres and styles descend upon the Windy City from February 10th through the 19th, fresh from their 2012 debuts at the Detroit International Auto Show. Spanning all makes and models, the Chicago Auto Show will display everyday vehicles, luxury autos, and, most exciting: concept cars. Lexus is expected to show its LF-LC concept–a front-engine, rear-wheel drive supercar concept with a love-it-or-hate-it design. Amongst the non-concept stars, big draws include the Porsche Carrera 911, the Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing (sure to be displayed with at least one door up).

Tickets are now available online, and adult admission is going for $11 each, seniors at $7 each, and children below 7 for free. With the auto show open to the general public for nearly a week and a half, our best advice would be to get tickets now and to attend on a less-busy weeknight.

In ol’ New York: 600 wines, 150 wineries, 3 days. The New York Wine Expo hits Manhattan’s Jacob Javits center from March 2 to 4, giving urban oenophiles a chance to brush up on old favorite wines and learn about new ones. Showcasing wines from far-flung locales such as Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, South Africa and vineyards from the Americas, this Expo also boasts of a Grand Tasting, which allows attendees to not only sample all wines, but to also talk directly with vineyard owners and wine experts. Wine accessories and food pairings are also expected to exhibit their wares, making the entrance fee of $75 (prices go up after February 24) a rather good bargain.

Expect to wander and spend plenty of time sampling and chatting with fellow wine fans: each exhibit day runs for only 4 hours, so plan on being there for a full half-day to truly enjoy the expo. Tickets are available now and prices go up to $85 per person beginning February 25.

Markets Media Lifestyle plans on attending both shows, so keep an eye out for our coverage of these events online!
