Clock Synchronization: A Matter of Timing

Ripple, a leading provider of blockchain solutions across traditional and digital finance, announced that Ripple Prime has launched support for real-world asset (RWA) perpetual swaps. Institutional clients including Virtu are now trading RWA swaps with respect to more than 100 reference markets spanning equities, equity indices, ETFs, metals, energy, and FX, all traded and settled 24/7.

Onchain infrastructure is creating new access to global markets, enabling continuous exposure to markets that have historically been limited to fixed trading windows, and perpetual swaps linked to traditional assets are part of this shift. For institutions, expanded access creates new opportunities to respond to market developments, manage positions, and deploy capital across both traditional and digital asset markets.

RWA swaps, traded through Ripple Prime as principal, reference perpetual futures contracts listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid, a high-performance decentralized derivatives venue. With reference markets trading continuously, including weekends, clients can manage exposures to traditional asset classes outside typical exchange operating hours.

“RWA swaps are where traditional and digital markets meet,” said Michael Higgins, International CEO, Ripple Prime. “Institutions want exposure to equities, commodities, and currencies with the round-the-clock access and efficiencies of digital infrastructure. Ripple Prime was built to operate in both worlds, with deep experience clearing trades and managing digital collateral and risk across venues, 24/7. With RWA swaps, we are enabling clients to execute increasingly sophisticated trading strategies and actively manage their portfolios in response to today’s dynamic global markets.”

Clients further benefit from the ability to cross-margin RWA swap exposures against the other asset classes Ripple Prime supports, as well as the ability to use Ripple USD (RLUSD*) as collateral for RWA swaps transactions, resulting in a single counterparty relationship, centralized risk management, and consolidated margin across clients’ portfolios.

“Virtu is ramping up across emerging liquidity pools, and Ripple Prime’s 24/7 cross-margining across asset classes helps us expand our presence more efficiently as markets move toward round-the-clock access,” said Scotte Moegling, head of business development for digital assets at Virtu.

There has been exponential growth in trading volumes of perpetual futures contracts tied to real world assets year-to-date. Ripple Prime’s support for RWA swaps demonstrates its commitment to providing institutions with access to the most in demand products and venues within a unified, capital-efficient prime brokerage framework built for the digital age. This offering is currently available out of Ripple Prime’s CIV BVI license, with the intention to offer from additional regions in the near future.
