Alison Doyle, Head of ETP Listings at Nasdaq, won Rising Star at Markets Media Group’s 2023 Women in Finance (U.S.) Awards.

Please tell us about your current role and daily responsibilities.

My current role encompasses supporting both new and existing issuers who are looking to launch ETFs. This entails a multifaceted approach, spanning regulatory support, the implementation of trading and liquidity programs, reporting and data analytics, as well as a variety of marketing activations we can offer our clients to help promote their products. Additionally, education is a top priority for us; we dedicate considerable time to guiding issuers through the ETF listing process. The Nasdaq ETF Listings business positions ourselves as an extension of our clients’ teams, offering support throughout the entire process from pre to post-launch.

What keeps you motivated?

The culture of innovation within the ETF space is inspiring to me. To continue keeping up with the fast-paced industry, I am driven to foster a dynamic environment that fuels creativity and growth. What keeps me motivated is a genuine focus on the success and happiness of my team. I am driven to cultivate a fulfilled group of individuals who not only do the job they love but also take risks and explore new avenues in the business.

I would also be lying if I did not say that I was motivated by winning new listings. The ETF industry is highly competitive, and that level of competition pushes me to always grow and improve in my role. Adding a new ETF or new issuer to Nasdaq is always thrilling.

What makes you proud to work at your company?

I am immensely proud to work at Nasdaq especially due to the company’s prioritization of innovation and embracing new ideas. This commitment is evident from top-level decisions, such as recent acquisitions, like Adenza, and the integration of new technology, like AI. I find it fulfilling to contribute to a company that values forward-thinking approaches.

North American Market Services (NAMS) is also an exceptional team within the company to be a part of. The NAMS executive team is incredibly talented at what they do and have served as exceptional mentors, that have shaped the kind leader I aspire to be.

What’s your advice to the next generation of women in finance?

For the next generation of women in finance, and honestly for anyone in the industry, my advice is to be bold and go the extra mile. When you enter a new role put your head down and work hard. Ask questions, volunteer for projects, and have a good attitude. If you are in the right place and have done the work, people will have taken notice, and you will be in a position to succeed because of the experience you gained.
