Caroline Baron, Vice President, Rates Sales and Client Management at Tradeweb, won Rising Star at Markets Media Group’s 2023 Women in Finance (U.S.) Awards.

Please tell us about your current role and daily responsibilities.

I am Vice President, Rates Sales and Client Management at Tradeweb. In this role, I focus my efforts on onboarding new clients as well as increasing client adoption of protocols across Tradeweb’s U.S. Rates platform. I work closely with senior stakeholders across the product and sales organization to help drive new users to the platform as well as increase client activity in Tradeweb’s mortgage-backed specified pools recently launched product, SP Marketplace.

What makes you proud to work at your company?

I’ve been at Tradeweb for over five years, and during this time I’ve had the opportunity to work with many people across different areas of the company. I’ve learned a lot and have had the opportunity to pass on the skills I’ve learned to others around me.

I believe that it’s the people who make the company – and that’s something I’ve found to be especially true at Tradeweb. Our culture is unique in that our employees truly embody the mission of our organization, and Tradeweb provides a runway for employees to advance their career and learn from each other.

What’s something you’re really proud of and why?

I’m very proud of my involvement in Tradeweb’s internal committees and mentorship programs. I’m an active member of our Global Women’s Network, which was created to bring employees together and ensure that all women within our organization have equal access to the opportunities at Tradeweb. I’m also involved in our global mentoring program, where colleagues across the firm share their professional experiences and pass on skills they’ve learned to others across the organization. I’ve experienced firsthand how helpful it can be to have a mentor, especially early on in your career, and I’ve found that this program has been a great way to motivate those who are looking to enhance their professional skills.

What’s your advice to the next generation of women in finance?

Don’t wait for your next opportunity to come to you. Be proactive and seek out the roles you’re interested in and that challenge you.
