TRADING UP: Wells Fargo Grabs Murphy; BTIG Adds Cutaia

Wells Fargo Securities capitalized on the mass exodus out of Deutsche Bank’s equity trading business and snagged David Murphy, the German banks former co-head of U.S. equity sales and trading. According to his LinkedIn profile he onboarded in late summer and is in the firm’s Boston office. He spent 16 years at Deutsche Bank.

Vince Cutaia, BTIG

BTIG landed Vince Cutaia for the firm’s Outsource Trading unit in San Francisco as a Director. Cutaia will focus on expanding BTIG’s Outsource Trading business and strengthening its relationships with clients across the West Coast. Prior to BTIG, he was a Director of Outsource Trading at Conifer Securities and Cowen between 2006 and 2019. Previously, he was Head Trader at Davis Skaggs Investment Management and Weintraub Capital Management. Cutaia is also a former President of the San Francisco Security Traders Association.

Quandl has announced the appointment of Evan Reich as Head of Data Strategy and Sourcing. Reich was formerly Global Head of Data Strategy and Sourcing at BlueMountain Capital, a $18 billion multi-strategy hedge fund. In this role, he will lead the firm’s data strategy and sourcing team to find new alternative data sources that are relevant to Quandl’s customers.

Aite Group hired senior analyst Joe Krull to its Cybersecurity practice. Krull will split his time between San Antonio, Texas, and Tel Aviv, Israel, and his research will focus on cybersecurity, privacy, and IT risk. Prior to joining Aite Group, he was a member of Accenture’s Security Strategy and Risk practice, where he focused on the impact of cybersecurity on mergers and acquisitions, compliance with cyber and privacy regulations, and helping companies formulate their cybersecurity strategies.

Financeware, a leading data and wealth management fintech platform and NewSpring Holdings’ company, appointed William Dolan, former Head of Fidelity Corporate Actions Solutions, as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. While at Fidelity Corporate Actions Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fidelity Investments, Dolan was responsible for architecting and leading the execution of the company’s strategy and running its daily operations, and was instrumental in driving its success and growth.  Prior to this, he held senior roles in Fidelity’s Clearing and Custody business supporting the Broker Dealer and Registered Investment Advisor client base, including the creation of Fidelity Clearing Canada in Toronto.

Catalyst, the global nonprofit focused on accelerating progress for women at work, announced that Susan Bartlett, Chief Executive Officer of the award-winning service design consultancy Bridgeable, is joining its Canada Advisory Board.

David Phillips, Parametric

Audiens, a customer data platform, has named Rob Sharland as VP Global Sales in a move to strengthen and accelerate rapidly expanding international growth. Sharland joineds Audiens from Dunnhumby, the global Customer Data Science company where he was Brand Media Director focused on media agencies and client sales.

Parametric Portfolio Associates, an affiliate of Eaton Vance Corp. appointed David Phillips as Director, Liability Driven Investment Strategies. Phillips was previously Director, Client Strategy and Research/Risk Analytics at Russell Investments, where he was responsible for research, development and analysis of investment strategies for defined benefit plans and evaluating risk for plan sponsors. His prior experience includes serving as Manager, Client Services at NISA Investment Advisors, where he provided pension liability expertise for the firm’s clients, and Director, Asset Management for Celanese Corporation. Phillips reports to Justin Henne, CFA, Managing Director of Investment Strategy.

CLS, a market infrastructure group delivering settlement, processing and data solutions, said that Masami Johnstone has been appointed as Head of Information Services. Masami joins CLS from Euronext, where she was Head of Buy Side Sales, responsible for advanced data sales and development. Previously she was Head of Institutional Quant Research. Prior to Euronext, Masami spent a decade at ITG Europe, working in their EMEA Analytics Product and Research team, before being appointed as Head of Consulting EMEA Analytics. Masami began her career at Baring Asset Management, where she held several analytics roles.

DriveWealth Holdings, Inc., a global digital trading technology, named Ryan Burke to the role of Chief Information Officer of its subsidiary DriveWealth Technologies. Burke has more than 16 years of senior operations, brokerage and risk experience in the equities and capital markets sector. Burke joined DriveWealth from Stash Invest, a digital financial services company, where he served as Vice President of Brokerage and Head of Operations since joining in 2016. Previously, Burke held numerous senior positions over more than 10 years at Macquarie Securities, the institutional brokerage division of Macquarie Group, most recently as Senior Vice President in the Global COO office and in the Risk Management Group.

Incapital, a leading underwriter and distributor of fixed income securities, has onboarded  George Holstead as Co-Head of Fixed Income, reporting directly to CEO John DesPrez. In this role, Holstead will be part of the Executive Committee and will lead the Institutional Fixed Income business. Holstead will be based in Boca Raton and work closely with Laura Elliot, Co-Head of Fixed Income, in advancing the broader strategy within Fixed Income. He joined from Brean Capital where he was a Managing Director responsible for the creation and build out of the Middle Market and Financial Institutions Group.
