Private Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives announced the final close of West Street Capital Partners IX (“WSCP IX” or “the fund”) and related vehicles, the latest in a series of flagship private equity vehicles. The fund closed on $9.6 billion of total capital, building on Goldman Sachs’ 40-year proven track record in private equity, investing in leading companies around the world to create value. Together with more than $1.6 billion raised to date for West Street Asia Equity Partners I (“WSAEP I”), Goldman Sachs Alternatives’ dedicated pan-Asia Pacific private equity strategy, and $500 million for related co-investment vehicles, total capital raised for the current vintage of Private Equity vehicles on a global basis is $11.7 billion.

WSCP IX is the ninth vintage of Goldman Sachs Alternatives’ flagship buyout platform. Since 1986, the team has invested more than $89 billion globally, partnering with companies and management teams to drive growth.1 The fund’s capital was raised from a diverse group of institutional and high net worth investors in North America, Europe and the Middle East, with significant commitments from Goldman Sachs and its employees.

In addition to the fund capital raised for WSCP IX and related vehicles, Goldman Sachs Alternatives is separately raising capital for West Street Asia Equity Partners I (“WSAEP I”), its dedicated pan-Asia private equity strategy focused on control-oriented, middle-market investments as well as select growth investments across the region. Following aggregated first close, WSAEP I has raised more than $1.6 billion to date.

WSCP IX will continue its strategy of targeting predominantly control-oriented, upper mid-market investments. Building on the team’s deep industry expertise, the fund is expected to target investments across the services, financials, technology, healthcare, consumer and energy transition sectors. Amid a dynamic investment landscape, the team is strategically positioned to identify new opportunities in these sectors, while leveraging playbooks that have proven resilient through various market cycles.

Brad Gross, global co-head of Private Equity within Goldman Sachs Alternatives, said: “This fundraise builds on our long history as a leading private equity platform, harnessing Goldman Sachs’ global scale, network and expertise to source differentiated investments and accelerate value for our portfolio companies. The enthusiasm from our global investor base reflects strong conviction in the strength of our franchise and our ability to deliver attractive performance across market cycles.”

Our deep bench of experts and advisors is also equipped with the tools and resources needed to help portfolio companies navigate the ongoing AI transformation and scale.”
