Service providers embed technology into their fund administration platforms.

Providers of middle and back-office services are embedding cloud technology into their systems in order to streamline service delivery.

InvestCloud, a joint venture of Conifer Group and InvestCloud Holdings,  has  launched cloud-based products for money managers, called mbOffice and InvestCloud CustomPort.

mbOffice is a cloud solution for hedge funds and asset managers that supports portfolio management and investment administration while providing portals for reporting and communicating internally as well as externally with investors.

InvestCloud CustomPort solutions are designed for clients desiring customized clouds, including multi-managers (institutional investors, endowments, foundations, etc). who require more complex deployments.

The first InvestCloud CustomPort deployment is Conifer iCon, commissioned less than 6 months ago by the Conifer Group, a provider of fund administration, middle office, trading and prime brokerage services to the hedge fund industry.

Conifer iCon was built using InvestCloud CustomPort and leverages mbOffice. “iCon will greatly enhance the experience of Conifer’s clients and improve efficiency of Conifer’s teams,” Sal Campo, chief operating officer at InvestCloud, told Markets Media. iCon is currently in Beta testing with a September release planned, he said.

InvestCloud’s products eliminate the need to continually purchase, integrate, and update multiple pieces of enterprise software. They also unify existing fragmented enterprise software and operations into a simple, intuitive user interface via a private cloud, the company said.

mbOffice is powered by Advent Software’s Geneva suite of accounting and reconciliation engines for real-time P&L, performance and risk attribution reporting, trading, operations, accounting, market data and interfaces to counterparties as well as third-party service providers such as prime brokers/custodians and fund administrators.

Conifer Group has selected Empaxis as its Advent application and automation support provider.

“Empaxis provides targeted production support for Conifer,” said Campo. “As with any system, it is only as good as its reliability and performance. Empaxis works with Conifer and InvestCloud to ensure minimal down time and immediate responses if issues occur.”
