ICI Reports Closed-End Fund Assets and Net Issuance

ICI.org – Washington, DC – The combined assets of the nation’s closed-end funds were $265.63 billion at the end of June, according to ICI. The Institute’s quarterly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by closed-end funds.

Highlights: Total closed-end fund assets increased $6.20 billion during the second quarter. Equity fund assets increased by $4.02 billion to $101.63 billion, and bond fund assets increased by $2.18 billion to $164.00 billion.

 

For the quarter, closed-end funds had negative net issuance of $173 million, compared with net issuance of $171 million in the first quarter of 2016.

 

There were 545 closed-end funds at the end of the second quarter. Bond funds numbered 343, and equity funds totaled 202. There were 559 closed-end funds at the end of the first quarter.
