Nomination of Mike Selig as CFTC Chair Progresses

On 20 November 2025, the nomination of Mike Selig as chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission passed the Senate Agriculture Committee.

For the last eight months Selig was chief counsel of the Crypto Task Force & senior advisor to Chairman Atkins at the SEC. He was also previously in private practice as a partner at law firm Willkie Farr and at the CFTC in 2014 and 2015, where he worked with Chris Giancarlo, former CFTC Chairman who has been dubbed “Crypto Dad.”
