Amundi, European leading asset manager and ETF provider[1], announces the launch of a tokenised share class of one of its flagship European equity index fund, Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600, a core European equity strategy widely used as a building block for portfolio allocation.
With this launch, Amundi extends tokenisation beyond cash management solutions into index investing, marking a new milestone in its digital asset strategy. By bringing a flagship broad-market equity exposure into a tokenised format, Amundi takes a further step towards connecting traditional investment solutions with emerging digital market infrastructure.
The new share class has been issued on the public Ethereum blockchain. It remains fully integrated into the fund’s existing operating model, and the fund continues to be available also through traditional channels. Developed in collaboration with CACEIS, the solution leverages CACEIS’s technology and infrastructure for the tokenisation of fund units.
This initiative reflects Amundi’s conviction that tokenisation can progressively support a broader range of mainstream investment uses across asset classes. It follows the launch over the past few months of Amundi’s first tokenised share class of a money market fund, subscription via stablecoins as well as a series of partnerships with digital players, large corporates and financial institutions to test concrete applications of distributed ledger technology.
This phased approach reflects Amundi’s commitment to innovation within a robust regulatory, operational and risk management framework. It also supports Amundi’s ambition to progressively develop a range of tokenised funds to respond to the evolving needs of institutional clients and digital platforms, leveraging its potential to deliver greater operational efficiency through the automation of certain processes, improved accessibility, fast settlement and transparency.
As market infrastructure and regulatory frameworks continue to develop, tokenised fund shares will create new opportunities for digital distribution and applications across asset classes. By extending tokenisation to index funds, Amundi contributes to lay the foundations to bridge traditional finance and digital finance.
