NYFW: Day 6

02.12.2014

On Tuesday at NYFW, we saw runway shows from the likes of Elie Tahari, Wendy Nichol, ICB, Pamella Roland, Narciso Rodriguez, MM6 Maison Martin Margiela, Assembly, Jill Sander Navy, Oscar de la Renta, Sophie Theallet, Wes Gordon, Libertine, Naeem Khan, J.Crew, Jenny Packham, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Co, Badgley Mischka, Diesel Black Gold, Timo Weiland, Rodarte, Vera Wang and Tory Burch. Highlights from the runways include Marc by Marc Jacobs, whose show went under a complete rebranding. Now known as MBMJ– as shown on numerous accessories that walked down the runway– the looks had an essence of ‘girl power’ through their lack of male clothing, while reminding us somewhat of Spice Girls meets K-pop. MM6 Maison Martin Margiela created a line geared towards New York fashionistas, with runway looks that seemed almost natural in New York City. Loose fitting shorts paired with motorcycle jackets, sweater dresses that resembled statement coats, and even the experimental shirt made entirely of bubble wrap were just some of the exciting pieces debuting at the MM6 show. Narciso Rodriguez displayed structured jackets with round-shaped backs and intricately detailed fronts, and some resembled cardigans while others showed color blocked panels, reminding us that color blocking and statement jackets will still be a trend this coming Fall.
