Tee Up!

09.19.2014

By May Zhee Lim, Markets Media Life Correspondent

Named one of the best driving ranges in the country by Men’s Health and the Critics’ Pick in The New York Magazine, The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers is Manhattan’s only four-tiered, year-round outdoor driving range, with a gorgeous view of the Hudson River to boot. With 52 heated and weather protected hitting stalls, the cooling temperatures won’t present a problem for die-hard golfers who want to practice their swing through fall and winter.

Members love the fully automated tee-up system – all you need to do is buy a ball card and insert it into the card reader in your hitting stall, eliminating the need for cumbersome ball buckets. Adding to the list of high-tech amenities at the golfing range are two Full Swing simulators, where you can choose to play on any of the world’s Championship courses, depending on the kind of challenge or experience you are looking for.

For first-time golfers, do not be daunted by what is starting to look like a professional golfer’s heaven! The club happens to have an academy run by PGA and LPGA certified instructors who can work your experience level and schedule. The large and modern indoor training center, complete with practice sand bunker, digital swing analysis, and Simulators, makes the Golf Academy the perfect place to get your feet wet.

The Golf Club is also a popular venue for special events, whether it’s for a business occasion or private parties, making the range so much more than just a golfer’s hang-out. The Simulators are fun to try out in groups, and the club has two designated rooms for hosting receptions, meetings, and parties – both overlooking the Hudson River. The Golf Club is open to the public, and annual memberships are available as well.
